Ivan’s passion for film-making stems from his passion for photography. Following a stint as a stills assistant on music and fashion shoots, Ivan made a name for himself as a photographer in his own right.

He was soon experimenting with moving images and honed his craft by working and learning with the best cinematographers he could. Ivan made a rapid rise through the ranks and after lighting his first movie; ‘Cresta Run’ directed by Terry Windsor he found his skills as a lighting camera man were in constant demand and became one of the top ranked DOPs in the business.

His solid cinematographic credits in the commercials realm include Daniel Kleinman’s ‘Mosquito’ for Xbox and ‘Keep Walking’ for Johnnie Walker (Ivan was Daniel’s DOP of choice for many years), ‘Hero’s Return’ for Stella Artois with Frank Budgen, ‘Hold Up’ for Orange with Chris Palmer, ‘Harry Potter’ for Pepsi Cola with Dante Ariola and Jonathan Glazer’s ‘Swimback’ and ‘Surfer’ for Guinness.

Ivan then went on to collaborate with Jonathan Glazer as his DOP on the powerful debut movie 'Sexy Beast' which was both Oscar and Bafta nominated.

Ivan’s move from cinematographer to director came by chance when he was offered a Sony commercial to direct. He grabbed the opportunity and has not looked back, picking up a D&AD award within his first year of directing.

He soon landed the new brand campaign for O2 which was a signature body of work defined by seamless integration of photography and post work.

Since turning his hand from DOP to Director, Ivan has created an incredible body of work having made over sixty commercials and picking up some well-deserved awards along the way. He has directed ads for brands such as Canon, Nike, Mercedes, BMW, HSBC, American Airlines, BA, Shell, Smirnoff and Hovis amongst many others.
